Commercial insurance

Business Insurance

A considered combination of property, liability, interruption, cyber and management covers for UK businesses.

Start with the exposure

Understand the exposure before comparing terms.

A commercial combined policy can bring several risks together, but the correct structure depends on what the business owns, does, sells and promises to customers. We review those fundamentals first.

OAK VIEW

Good broking starts with a precise understanding of the business, not a product menu.

Cover to consider

Built from the risk outwards.

Availability and scope depend on insurer acceptance and the terms offered for your business.

01

Property and interruption

Buildings, contents, stock and loss of income can be structured around realistic values and recovery periods.

02

Liability

Public, products and employers' liability can address covered allegations connected with operations, products and employees.

03

Cyber and crime

Cover can be considered for cyber incidents, data breaches, fraud and certain forms of business interruption.

04

Management liability

Directors' and officers', employment-practices and corporate legal liability may be available for eligible businesses.

Practical buying guidance

A business description is the starting point, not the whole risk

Two companies with the same industry label can need different insurance. One may sell only online, while another owns stock, employs drivers and installs products at customers' premises. Explain how income is earned, where work happens and who could suffer a loss if something goes wrong.

A packaged policy can be convenient, but the sections, limits and exclusions still need to match the business. A physical-damage section does not automatically cover an allegation about professional advice, and business interruption is not a guarantee against every reduction in sales.

Tell Oak about planned changes such as a new site, different products, overseas sales or a larger contract. Cover arranged for last year's operations may not reflect next year's exposures.

Compare the wording, not just the premium

Compare the cover sections actually included, the events that trigger them, policy conditions, excesses and the cost of uninsured downtime—not premium alone.

Common questions

Useful answers before you approach the market.

Can Oak review all our policies together?+

Yes. Reviewing the programme together can reveal overlaps, gaps, inconsistent dates and opportunities to simplify administration.

Do you only work in Sussex?+

No. Oak advises commercial clients throughout the United Kingdom while retaining direct, personal broker contact.

When should we start a renewal review?+

Complex risks benefit from starting early — often six to twelve weeks before renewal — so there is time to gather information and approach the right markets.
