Security Guarding, Events and Door Supervision Insurance

Specialist insurance advice for guarding, door supervision, events, keyholding and security businesses across the UK.

Start with the exposure

Understand the exposure before comparing terms.

Security contracts create exposures that ordinary liability policies may not contemplate. We start with your contracts, deployed workforce and operational controls, then approach insurers with a clear account of the risk.

OAK VIEW

A specialist submission gives underwriters the detail they need and gives you a clearer basis for comparing terms — not just premiums.

Cover to consider

Built from the risk outwards.

Availability and scope depend on insurer acceptance and the terms offered for your business.

01

Public and employers' liability

Protection for injury and property-damage allegations, subject to the policy terms, limits and activities declared.

02

Contractual liability and inefficacy

Cover may be available for specified failures to perform a contracted security service. The wording and exclusions need careful review.

03

Fidelity, keys and wrongful arrest

Specialist extensions may address employee dishonesty, loss of keys and allegations connected with detention or removal.

04

Professional and management risks

Professional indemnity, cyber and directors' and officers' cover can be considered where the business provides advice, handles data or has contractual exposure.

Practical buying guidance

Your contract and deployed activities should tell the same story

A contract for static guarding may also include keyholding, patrols, alarm response or an expectation that losses will never occur. Those obligations need to be compared with the declared activities and the policy wording. Liability insurance does not automatically accept every contractual promise.

Break down turnover and wages by activity, including door supervision, events and subcontracted work. Tell Oak about venue types, licensing responsibilities, incident procedures and staff training so insurers can assess the actual operation.

Questions about wrongful arrest, loss of keys, employee dishonesty and efficacy should be asked separately. An extension appearing on a schedule can still have a limited trigger, sub-limit or exclusion.

Compare the wording, not just the premium

Compare contracted responsibilities, defence costs, efficacy wording and specialist sub-limits. A certificate showing a liability limit is not evidence that every contract obligation is insured.

Common questions

Useful answers before you approach the market.

What information will you need?+

Usually your turnover and wages split by activity, contract types, largest contracts, claims history, subcontractor use, accreditations and risk-management procedures.

Can you consider door supervision and events?+

Yes. Appetite and terms depend on the venues, percentage of work, contracts, claims history and controls, so these activities must be declared accurately.

Can you review an existing policy?+

Yes. We can compare the activities, extensions, limits, conditions and key exclusions against the work your business performs.
